About Ken

Ken Cheng is a stand-up comedian, writer and professional poker player.  He first burst onto the comedy scene after reaching the final of the 2015 BBC New Comedy Award and since then he has written and starred in his own BBC Radio 4 show, Chinese Comedian, of which the third series aired in 2022.


Ken’s TV and radio credits include Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Alan Partridge’s This Time and Celebrity Eggheads (BBC Two), Comedians Giving Lectures (Dave), Sorry I Didn’t Know (ITV), Comedy Central at the Comedy Store and Roast Battle UK (Comedy Central), Sparks (Channel 4), Dave’s Advent Calendar (Dave), Step Up to the Plate (CBBC), BBC Asian Network At The Edinburgh Festival (BBC Asian Network), Evil Genius (BBC Sounds), Breaking The News (BBC Radio Scotland), A Good Read, The Now Show, My Teenage Diary and Quote Unquote (BBC Radio 4).


As a presenter, Ken was the host of Don’t Blame Me, Blame My Brain (CBBC), a children’s comedy show that explains scientific concepts to kids. He was also the presenter of Game Over, Humans (BBC Radio 4), a documentary about AI and gaming.


As a writer, Ken has written his own episode of Doctor Who: Redacted (BBC Sounds), an audio series set in the Doctor Who universe. He has also written for Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (Sky One), Hypothetical and The Island (Dave), Newsjack and The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4).


Outside of comedy, Ken is a lover of all types of games. He frequently appears as a guest on the Youtube channel No Rolls Barred, playing Blood on the Clocktower and other board games.
